Friday 9th November – Wensum remembers

at 2pm on Friday 9th November, our children, families and some very special guests gathered together at St Barnabas Church in an act of remembrance. Sunday marked 100 years since the guns fell silent across the battlefields of France and Belgium. We were joined by representatives of the Norfolk Armed Services Covenant Board, our project historian Neil Storey, and a very special guest. Nick Humphrey is the great grandson of Ernest Carey Humphrey who was one of ‘our lads’. He travelled up from Corby with his uncle to join us. We were very honoured to have them with us. Year 6 read citations for 9 lads who were presented amongst us by 9 There But Not There silhouettes and Neil told us about Ernie Seaman, Norfolk’s last VC.
